My longest love affair has been with our city.
You’ll often find me exploring St. Louis’s ever changing landscape (camera in hand) to catch shots of our amazing architecture. . . or unwinding at the newest craft brewery on the St. Louis scene. My love of our city convinced me to buy a 150 year old row house in Soulard which I’m slowly restoring. I’ve learned a lot about rehabbing, good contractors, bad contractors and design during this process. It’s been an adventure in itself but overall I couldn’t ask for a better neighborhood for my family.
.I’ve been involved in St. Louis real estate since 2000. My education begin with a literture major from the University of Missouri. After I realized that only gave me the foundation to argue the themes and motifs of Jane Eyre, I sought out a digital media degree from Lindenwood while spending my days working in a real estate office. After graduation I was hired as the Director of Marketing and eBusiness for Prudential Real Estate, where I lead the marketing and technology efforts for 10 offices and over 500 agents. I feel fortunate I was able to play a part in building a company that is recognized as the top locally-owned real estate firm in St. Louis. Because of that role I’m able to offer OwnStL clients a unique skill-set and network of connections. My job over the last decade has been to stay current on real estate marketing and technologies. I’ve lead the creation of corporate marketing and business strategies and am an expert in social media, ad design, search engine optimization, public relations, video production and more. My career has also allowed me to mentor under some of the most recognized names in St. Louis real estate. I have connections to local media sources, vendors and contractors as well as real estate professionals throughout the country.
In 2012, I began practicing real estate investment and managing rental property. I own several multi-family and residential properties in St. Louis - some with traditional tenants and others used for AirBnBs. I even rent out the spare room in my home to AirBnB guests, meaning I'm frequently having coffee in my own kitchen with strangers. I'm nerdy in that I love sitting down with a spreadsheet and figuring out the profit margin for a property, complete with cap rate and cash on cash return. In 2018, Jen and I began offering investment classes, specializing in AirBnB properties. All of this fits into my long term goal of creating a rental empire so I can travel the world.
My home life consists of two overgrown, energetic 'puppies' and two semigrown, energetic teenagers. I love the chaos. Most of the time.
